MultiChron Petit
Introduced in 1936
At only 26.3mm in diameter, the Gallet MultiChron Petit (French for small) is the tiniest wrist chronograph ever produced. Originally created with a black dial as a "dress" chronograph for male officers and military doctors of the USAAF (Unites States Army Air Forces), the watch quickly gained popularity with enlisted and professional women who before were required to use a larger gent's watch to do their assigned tasks.
The MultiChron Petit remained as an extremely scarce wristwatch as very few were ever produced due to the high cost. The few existing examples of this extraordinary timepieces are highly coveted as rare and important items by today's collectors.
During the 20th century, the Gallet MultiChron Petit became a favorite timepiece of the early "Flying Ninety-Nines", the renown organization of women pilots originally presided over by Amelia Earhart.
